I know this is more of girly type thing to be talking about but it does involve yard work, a rototiller, and as a man its nice to get compliments from the fairer sex on stuff they thought you were never capable of doing, such as planting a stand of wildflowers. First go to a website like Wildseed Farms and click on the link
Wild flower seeds , click on regional mixes, find your state and then buy. One 1/4 pound pack covers a space about 200-300 square feet. I plant them right in my yard as a border to the drive way. I do not put up a wooden border or fence, I just mow the grass really short in that spot, then give it a light tilling with a rototiller. If you don't have access to a rototiller then a stiff metal rake will do. Just get exposed dirt. Water according to the packets instructions, you may want to cover with a light covering of hay to keep the birds from getting your seeds. Oh and plant right now in the fall, for a spring harvest. Then just wait and don't mow over that area until the seed heads are dead, usually late summer. Our stand has comeback now for two years without any replanting. Ours looks wild because the grasses and weeds grow up alongside of the flowers but when the flowers are in bloom who cares. Plus it became a home to a warren of rabbits, a few leopard frogs, humming birds, humming bird moths and a plethora of butterflies.
Your wildflowers are pretty incredible, in fact I was impressed by ya'll entire yard and garden!
